About

Boy Scout Troop 888 was originally chartered in April of 1971 so 2021 was our 50th Anniversary!

We are chartered by St Patricks RCC of Smithtown and we meet every Wednesday at 7:30pm while school is in session.

During the school year the troop participates in activities and performs community service to benefit the local community, such as Food Drives for the Smithtown Food Pantry, beach cleanups at town beaches and trail cleanups along the local hiking trails.

We try to go hiking and or camping at least once a month, and we plan a minimum of 1 high adventure outing a year.

This past summer we planned a multi-day hiking trip in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  The boys hiked the Presidential Range, climbed to the summit of Mt Washington and stayed in Appalachian Mountain Club Huts along the way.

During the summer the troop goes to Boy Scout summer camp at Ten Mile River Scout Camp in upstate New York for a week.

The boys all work very hard earning merit badges and rank requirements but they also have a great time and it is a wonderful experience for them.
